Default Comrade's D/W PvP build (with PvE variation)

This is my D/W that I run in PvP & the PvE variant. While the PvP version works quite well, its not without its weaknesses...anyone have any tips on altering this build to increase its effectiveness?

PvP D/W build...

8 Tactics
15 Scythe Mastery (12 + 1 + 2)
10 Mysticism

[skill]Pious Assault[/skill] [skill]chilling victory[/skill] [skill]eremite's attack[/skill] [skill]heart of fury[/skill] [skill]Distracting blow[/skill] [skill]defensive stance[/skill] [skill]faithful intervention[/skill] [skill]avatar of balthazar[/skill]

Faithfull intervention is always on, reapply whenever you can. Avatar of Balth + Defensive stance = +64 armor for 13 seconds (and +40 for 33 after that) which brings you to a whopping 134 armor for 13 seconds. The trick is to drain your energy, most times with a Pious Assault + Chilling Victory + Eremite's Attackand then use Heart of Fury before applying defensive stance, as the stance will end if you use a skill but with HoF on, you'll be attacking 33% faster while melee opponents have only a 25% chance of hitting you.

Other than the occasional wammo in AB, I have not met a single Sin nor W that will get the best of me in this build. Distracting blow is especially usefull against breaking sin chains, which followed by Pious Assault + Chilling Victory usually sends them running.

However, this build is rocked by hexes as it lacks a reliable heal and/or hex breaker.(melandru simply costs too much to run) So I reccomend cutting up casters before dealing with melee guys.

PvE D/W build...

8 Tactics
15 Scythe Mastery (12 + 1 + 2)
10 Mysticism

[skill]Pious Assault[/skill] [skill]chilling victory[/skill] [skill]eremite's attack[/skill] [skill]heart of fury[/skill] [skill]defensive stance[/skill] [skill]healing signet[/skill] [skill]avatar of balthazar[/skill]

^^^ 8th slot is a free slot, I often use heart of holy flame (if I know undead or necros will be present), Imbue health, Faithfull intervention or a rez signet in this slot.

lol this build is...rubish. Sorry man but it really does suck. If you don't know what's wrong with it...well you need to learn about dervishes a bit more.

ok let's try constructive criticism. where do we start from...
all right then.. Pious removes an enchant. you dont want that since u got no enchant worth removing. (unless you really really need to remove faithful for the health) dervish have alot of skills (esp enchants) that do like 3 different things (effect on cast, while active and at end). if you want to use skills like pious assault (which remove enchants) to your advantage you can try carrying [skill]Pious assault[/skill][skill]Signet of Pious light[/skill][skill]Pious renewal[/skill] as a set.
Use the signet to heal and the assault to attack.. if you add some other enchants with dmg and condition dealing you could possibly deal pious attack/ heal with pious light constantly (plus the effects of the enchant) since they regen instantly when self rending an enchant

If you're not aiming for a self rending build, i'd say replace pious with [skill]Victorious Sweep[/skill], try and throw [skill]Reaper's Sweep[/skill] as attack.. it's really nice:-> yeah take a res sig and remove those crappy W defence skills Look into [skill]Mystic Vigor[/skill]

remember.. DONT FORGET THE RES SIG IN PVP!

Dervish healing/defense>warrior healing/defense, at least on a Dervish. If you want a build that will survive well, even with no monk, go Earth Prayers/Mysticism. Some good examples are Mystic Regeneration, Vital Boon, Faithful Intervention, and Mystic Vigor (to some extent). Always try to get Myst. on a multiple of 3 for the best efficiency. 9 is probably the lowest you want. I usually run 12+1~3 scythe, 11+1 myst., and 6+2 earth. Wind prayers has speed boosts and utility stuff, but less survivability skills (=not so great for RA). If you wanna keep tactics, well...I dunno why.

Avatar of Balthazar is...bad. It's good for running, but not that much else. Don't start talking about armor; you don't need that much if it's only gonna be there half the time. For PvP, Grenth, Melandru, and Lyssa are the best. Grenth is usually higher PvP though. Reaper's Sweep is also powerful if you're like me and don't like using avatars at all. Follow it up with Mystic Sweep (if you're using enchantment like you should be) or Ermite's Attack and it makes a nice spike. Chilling Victory is good, but too expensive for my liking. Pious assualt usually isn't that useful unless you're using a bunch of enchantments like Grenth's Fingers or Heart of Holy Flame...I guess. And for PvP, unless you just love AoB and refuse to lose it, you'll need a snare or speed boost (which is good to have anyway because you can't always have AoB up).

I would, but there's usually no room on my bar. Since I'm opposed to avatars, my elite of choice is Reaper's Sweep. In my opinion, Mystic Sweep is just too good when you're running enchantments to dump. Then I always use Wild Blow because of the utility, as well as decent damage, and Crippling Sweep for a snare. The rest of my bar is stuff to keep me alive and a rez. That's my usual Earth Prayers build at least. For Wind Prayers, I've really only run this build with any great success, though I've played around with Zealous Vow a bit. That build makes great use of Lyssa's Assault, but lacks in survivability compared to an Earth Prayers dervish (yes, I RA a lot ).

Anyway, that's kinda off-topic. Somebody get back to the build.

Why even run 10 mysticism and only major scythe runes? Best go for 11+1+3 scythes, 11+1 mysticism, and pump attributes for other stuff.

don't use W stances on a dervish, that's lame. and if you think sins and warriors (smart ones i assume) want to attack you, you've gone off the deep end. all melee should target casters first, and you've wrongly designed your build to target melee. throw away the enchant removers, your actual enchants (HoF, FI) seem essential to the build. replace eremite's with mystic sweep.

other stuff and you'll have a solid build.

P.S.
balthazar avatar is not that good in PvP, try melandru, grenth, or lyssa.

In most forums I believe this is known as a +1 post. If you feel the absolute need to post mindless spam then please do so in another thread, and not one of mine.

Thanks to kuwlij, whobitz & Mr Jazzy for offering some (the only in this thread) constructive advice. I've started playing around with alot of dervish skills that I neglected to even look at previously.

My altered build is investing alot more into Earth Prayers and using alot of the suggested skills like Lyssa's Assault, Victorious sweep and Conviction (why I didnt realize this was better than defensive stance before is beyond me). Using all Radiant armor and an Ebon Scythe along with Vital Boon, Reapers sweep & Eremite's Zeal. I'm also interested in incorporating Ebon Dust Aura, but not sure if its worth the elite slot.

If you decide to use EDA, you're moving away from a more damage oriented build and working towards utility. Not to say you won't still be dealing damage considering you're using a scythe, but I would probably say that an EDA ranger is better, just because of the dervish's mellee-range dependancy.

If you do end up running 3+ enchantments, and if you can manage your energy well enough to not need full radiant, I'd highly reccomend going with Windwaker insignias on chest and legs (at least). If you have room for a rune of attunement, you're energy will still be up to 30, and you'll have a base of 85 armor with the enchantments up.

Well as I run 4 Enchantments on my build.. this is pretty much how i do it i generally use Brawlers armor or windwalkers. Though i agree with using Windwalkers armor the only down side is if you get completely stripped. But with the way that my build is set up you can get your enchantments back up pretty quickly (I will be posting my build at a later time after i have tested it in RA/TA). Just for a reference i am set up as a D/W at almost all times. if you use a Zealous scythe instead of a Vamp during PvE it helps out a lot as far as gaining back energy. since the more mobs you hit the more energy you gain back. Though there is a downside to this if you burst your enchantments during a fight instead of stagering them. your energy will be 0 before you know it. but with our energy regen it shouldn't really matter you should still recover very fast. Oh and just so ya'll know.. i only bring wild blow and Balth when i need it which is rare.
